Travelling to Ireland Advice during COVID-19

What to know when travelling to Ireland during COVID-19

We want you to enjoy your visit to our country. However, there are some things you need to know when travelling to Ireland during COVID-19.

Before you arrive, you will have to fill out a Passenger Locator Form. The form helps with COVID 19 tracing, and unfortunately, not filling it out can lead to a severe penalty.

It is important not to travel if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 – like Fever, cough, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell. Furthermore, if you have been in contact with someone confirmed, or even suspected to have coronavirus, including family members, you shouldn’t travel.

When you arrive at the airport or ferry terminal, you will have to give a declaration of health on check-in. Also, please note that only those intending to travel are allowed to enter the airport or ferry terminal. Indeed, people with mobility problems are allowed to have a minder.

Where possible use online check-in, self bag drop and electronic boarding pass. Always, adhere to what airport staff tell you, as they are doing so for your well being, we are in this all together, let’s work together.

You can find the Green List on the gov.ie website, updated frequently. In this list, you can find the countries with low instances of COVID-19. People travelling from countries on the Green List are not expected to quarantine upon entry to Ireland but must follow government guidelines and rules.

Once you arrive to your destination…

Face masks are now mandatory on all public transport and in all shops. This guideline will be enforced and failing to wear a face-covering will result in being refused entry into shops or not being allowed on public transport. In particular, face masks made of fabric should comprise of at least two layers.

Even with a face covering, the Irish government still advises the practice of social distancing – at least 2 meters (about 6 feet) wherever possible. You will find out that many supermarkets and shops have spaces marked out before entering, or when paying for your items, to help ensure social distancing.

Where possible, try to avoid using public transport if you can walk somewhere instead. Dublin city centre is a rather small place, which means everything is within walking distance from Dublin Citi Hotel. Be sure to avoid crowds. If an area becomes too crowded and social distancing becomes impossible, it is advisable to leave that area.

HSE Coronavirus COVID-19 Advice – Wearing a mask

You should wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. We recommend washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds before rinsing them. When you are out and about, remember to keep a small hand sanitiser on you and when you get back to your room, wash your hands and mask with warm water and soap.

If you are travelling to Ireland from a country, that is not on the Green List; you have to self-quarantine for 14 days upon the arrival. Meaning going straight to your intended destination, such as your hotel or accommodation, restricting your movements as much as possible. Do not visit others and do not visit shops unless necessary. Please find more information here.
